Energi.AI has entered into an agreement to acquire CEMAsys, one of the Nordic region’s leading expert environments in climate and sustainability advisory. Through the acquisition, the company takes over CEMAsys’ client portfolio and key expertise, while quadrupling its customer base.
The acquisition marks a clear shift in the market, where technology and domain expertise are increasingly converging to meet new demands for speed, precision, and execution in sustainability work.
“While many players in sustainability reporting are facing headwinds, we see strong demand for a more technology-driven approach. The fact that a relatively young technology company is acquiring an established player like CEMAsys says something about where the market is heading,” says Anders H. Lier, founder and CEO of Energi.AI.
Technology meets expertise
Energi.AI has developed an AI platform that automates the collection of climate data, analysis, and reporting. With CEMAsys on board, this technology is combined with strong domain expertise and extensive industry experience.
The ambition is to make sustainability work more operational—where insights can more quickly be translated into concrete actions, better decisions, and measurable results.
“The platform provides customers with a strong data foundation. Combined with experienced advisors, we can better support the entire process, from analysis to execution,” says Lier.
More value for customers and partners
For existing customers, the acquisition ensures continuity in what they already use, combined with access to a broader expert environment. For partners and the wider market, the offering is strengthened through increased capacity, broader expertise, and a more complete delivery across technology and advisory services.
“We are bringing together technology and deep domain expertise in one organization. This creates a stronger platform and increases value for both existing and new customers,” says Hanne Ek, co-founder and CFO of Energi.AI.
Positioned for international scaling
The acquisition also provides a significant boost to the data foundation and customer base, which will strengthen the further development of the platform. Over the past year, Energi.AI has experienced strong international growth, particularly in the U.S. market, and with CEMAsys in its portfolio, the company is better positioned to scale further.
“This gives us a unique starting point to take a leading international position within technology-driven sustainability,” says Lier.
A rapidly changing market
For over 20 years, CEMAsys has helped companies understand and report on their climate footprint. Now, the needs are fundamentally changing.
“The market is moving towards more automation and faster decision-making processes. By becoming part of Energi.AI, customers gain access to more advanced technology while retaining the professional support they are used to,” says Frode Haugli, Chairman of the Board at CEMAsys.
